The City of John Day and the John Day Rural Fire Department approached PARC Resources to assist in fundraising for the much-needed Fire Station. The old building was too small to house or maintain equipment, inconveniently located with virtually no parking, and in desperate need of costly maintenance.
When PARC got involved in the project, the design was complete, a budget set, and the City had formed a citizens’ advisory committee to support the project.
PARC provided fundraising support both in grant writing, bond passage, and training volunteers to be community representatives for the project. Through this effort, the community overwhelming supported a bond to build the new Fire Station, which was enhanced by $470,000 in grant funding. Construction broke ground in September 2015.
“We worked with PARC for approximately two years. In that time PARC met with our city council, citizen’s advisory committee and city personnel. They developed the feasibility study for Capital Campaign planning for grant writing and prepared ‘case for support’ white paper summary. PARC assisted the city through the municipal bond process and wrote grant applications for Federal, State and private foundations. We couldn’t have completed this project without the help of PARC Resources; with their assistance the City received $470,000 in grants and $1.2 million in general obligation bonds.” – Peggy Gray, Former City Manager of John Day
